Georgia is one of the most welcoming countries in the Caucasus. It is famous not only for its generous feasts, traditions and outstanding wines, but also for its high-quality ski resorts, which today confidently compete with European destinations in terms of service and slope preparation.
The ski season in Georgia lasts from November to May, with peak conditions from December to March, when snowfall is at its highest. The climate is mild: usually −1…−3 °C, sunny, and with almost no wind — the Caucasus Range naturally protects the region from cold fronts.
Slopes vary in difficulty, and sometimes “change character” — blue routes may suddenly merge into red ones and vice versa. Beginners will find dedicated learning zones, while advanced skiers enjoy heli-skiing and freeride routes.
Georgia's most popular ski areas are Gudauri and Bakuriani. Rapidly developing but quieter resorts — Hatsvali, Tetnuldi, and Goderdzi — are also gaining recognition.
The most visited ski resort in Georgia. It offers 16 km of slopes, from green beginner runs to challenging black routes. The resort features a Doppelmayer cable car system constructed by Austrian specialists. Cross-country skiing tracks are also available.
Gudauri is especially popular among lovers of heli-ski and freeride: the snow layer is dense, with no rocks, and avalanche risks are low. Ski zones extend from 1500 m to 4200 m above sea level.
Despite the crowds during peak season, accommodation is plentiful. Activities include restaurants, bathhouses, cafes and bowling.
Ski pass:
One of the oldest ski resorts in the Caucasus, known since the 19th century. Main slopes are on Kokhta Mountain (2200 m). Two advanced runs — 1.5 km and 3 km — feature steep terrain changes. A small green beginner slope is available.
The resort offers button and chair lifts, cross-country tracks, an ice rink, ATV rentals, snowmobiles and horse-drawn sleigh rides.

A small, quiet resort in Svaneti, located at 1500 m altitude. It has three slopes: green, blue and red. There is one hotel, several guesthouses and one restaurant. The highlight is the panoramic view over Svaneti.
